Fellowship Groups

In a congregation as large and a diverse as Boone United Methodist Church fellowship groups are a great way to become involved. It is a fabulous opportunity to fellowship with people and to learn about our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Attic, Basement and Closet Sale
Sponsored by the United Methodist Women, this spring rummage sale is held the 3rd weekend in May and features clothing, linens, kitchen items and small furniture and appliances. All proceeds benefit local missions.

This year’s ABC Sale  is scheduled for May 27 – 28.  This is a great time to start your Spring cleaning and empty out your closets, and attics, and basement.  If you have a garage, I’ll bet it could use some cleaning as well.  We have started accepting donations of new or gently used items. We will happily take clothing, luggage, shoes, books, puzzles, toys,  kitchen articles, linens, and crafts. No large furniture or appliances please.  Donations may be dropped off in room 200 (closet area) during the week.

Buck-A-Roo’s
This invaluable group of men, started by Buck Robbins, work every Tuesday morning at the church. Their fellowship involves an every changing list of “honey-do’s” around the facility.

Cancer Support Group
“This group of cancer survivors supports each other through cards, emails and caring words to those fighting cancer.  We have also created a Facebook space entitled  “Loving Well” as a safe haven for those who have survived and those who battle cancer.  It is a private and confidential space for sharing encouragement, hope, needs, prayer requests and grace.  If you would like to be part of this online community, search Facebook for “Loving Well” , as a member of our Boone UMC congregation  and request to be added to this group.   If you need additional information or have requests, please let Pastor Patti know at patti@booneumc.org

Fall Bazaar
One of BUMC’s largest annual events that occurs the 3rd weekend in September. It involves over 300 people and countless hours of preparation. Money is raised for missions and the debt on the facility. It brings the entire congregation together and binds us as a family.

Family Life Ministries
Family Life Ministries hosts social events for the entire church family. They are one of many ways to get to know one another and participate in great food and fellowship. These events involve music, indoor and/or outdoor games, and maybe a contest or two.

Tuesday Lunch Bunch
This vibrant group of grown ups with a variety of ages meet the second Tuesday of every month from April to December at noon in the Family Life Center.  Enjoy a time of getting together with friends and new acquaintances over a delicious meal (no charge but donations accepted) and great conversation.   Entertainment follows in the chapel.  Open to church members as well as the community.  Reservations or questions can be submitted through the church office.

Threads of Faith
This group meets once a week to pray together and create handmade Prayer Shawls, Blankets, Infant Hats/Blankets, or Teddy Bears for those with medical or spiritual needs. It is a blessing to both the maker and the receiver of these gifts.

Weekly Caregiver Group
This group meets every Tuesday at 2:30 to support each other as they care for their loved ones who suffer from chronic illness or other conditions. This is a safe, confidential time to vent feelings, receive support and care and allow for a refreshing of spirit.  If you would like more information, please contact Patti Conley.
