In a congregation as large and a diverse as Boone United Methodist Church fellowship groups are a great way to become involved. It is a fabulous opportunity to fellowship with people and to learn about our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Attic, Basement and Closet Sale
Sponsored by the United Methodist Women, this spring rummage sale is held the 3rd weekend in May and features clothing, linens, kitchen items and small furniture and appliances. All proceeds benefit local missions.
This year’s ABC Sale is scheduled for May 27 – 28. This is a great time to start your Spring cleaning and empty out your closets, and attics, and basement. If you have a garage, I’ll bet it could use some cleaning as well. We have started accepting donations of new or gently used items. We will happily take clothing, luggage, shoes, books, puzzles, toys, kitchen articles, linens, and crafts. No large furniture or appliances please. Donations may be dropped off in room 200 (closet area) during the week.
This invaluable group of men, started by Buck Robbins, work every Tuesday morning at the church. Their fellowship involves an every changing list of “honey-do’s” around the facility.
Cancer Support Group
This group of cancer survivors supports each other through cards , emails and caring words to those fighting cancer.
Being diagnosed with cancer is a harrowing experience. Many in our congregation have endured this trial or are in the midst of it now. We sense God is calling us to community in this arena, so we have answered by creating a Facebook space entitled “Loving Well”. This space is to be a safe haven for dipping into the well of our Father’s love as we strive to love each other well through this battle, despite the limitations and isolation it often proliferates. It is a private and confidential space for sharing encouragement, hope, needs, prayer requests and grace in a more timely fashion. We are called to carry each other’s burdens…and as we share in the sufferings like Christ, we press on toward also sharing in the beautiful blessings He has in store for each of us as our tribulations bring perseverance, proven character & hope. If you are dealing with cancer and would like to be a part of this online community, you can search Facebook for “Loving Well” and request, as a member of our BooneUMC congregation, to be added to this group. We covet your prayers as we seek to join God in serving our brothers and sisters.
One of BUMC’s largest annual events that occurs the 3rd weekend in September. It involves over 300 people and countless hours of preparation. Money is raised for missions and the debt on the facility. It brings the entire congregation together and binds us as a family.
