• New Christians;
• Those who feel they have never really gotten going as a Christian;
• Newcomers to the church; and
• Those who want to brush-up on the basics of their Christian faith.

What’s involved?
The evening Alpha course is run over 12 weeks (10-week course with introductory and closing sessions) and begins each night with a meal, followed by worship and a video lesson. After a break for coffee, the class divides into smaller groups to discuss any questions raised during the video talk. (Each small group stays together throughout the course.)

In the middle of the course, there will be an all-day Saturday “retreat.” This is a key part of the course and a great chance for people get to know each other and God better.

What will it cost?
Alpha is our free gift to you. There is no charge, although you may contribute toward the meals, if you wish. Child care is also provided at no cost.

When and where?
Watch this site for information about future alpha courses at BUMC.

What will the teaching/discussion topics be on?
The topics in Alpha focus on the general basics of the Christian faith:
Who is Jesus?
Why did He have to die?
Why and how do I pray?
Why and how should I read the Bible?
What about the Holy Spirit?
How can I overcome evil?
Why and how should I tell others?
Does God heal today?
What about the church?

Alpha is about developing friendships, sharing a meal with others, enjoying singing, learning more about Christianity and talking about questions you have regarding the faith. For more information contact Boone UMC or log onto Alpha USA at www.alphana.org. Back to top
