The Season of Advent is an exciting time as we prepare for the coming of Christmas. BUMC has so many wonderful options over and beyond our Sunday morning worship services in which to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child into your life. This year, we will be exploring the mystery that we find in the manger as we reflect on all that God has done for us in this tiny, vulnerable infant Jesus. May our Advent offerings help you to discover the manger and the mystery once again.

Advent Festival – Food, fun and crafts are used to teach children about the Advent Season. This annual event is designed especially for families with young children, but the entire church family can and does participate. This year’s Advent Festival is on December 2, from 5:00 – 7:00pm in the Family Life Center.

December 16 – Christmas Cantata
Boone UMC’s Chancel Choir will be presenting “Let There Be Christmas” by Joseph Martin at the 11:00 service on Sunday, December 16. Dana, the Chancel Choir, orchestra, and dancers offer this very special service as a Christmas gift to you. This will be a time of worship and beautiful music that you will not want to miss.

December 21 – Longest Night of the Year ServiceA woman with blonde hair and blue eyes.
This year’s longest night of the year service will be held in the auditorium at the Watauga Medical Center at 6:00pm. Clergy from the area will lead a contemplative service that acknowledges our grief and celebrates the light that shines in the darkness.

Cookies are baked by the church, collected, and then sent out with families on Christmas Eve to be distributed to area agencies where folks are working. We have a list of places to go such as the Police Department or Fire Department. This is one of Boone UMC’s efforts to remember those who serve and keep us safe (even on Christmas Eve).

December 24 – Christmas Eve Services
This year, Boone UMC will have four Christmas Eve services…each with their own style and approach to worship.

4:00pm Children’s Service
6:00pm Praise and Worship Service
8:00pm Lessons and Carols
11:00pm Traditional Service
