During this time of thankfulness and giving the Bazaar Committee would like to let you know how else you helped!

From building supplies to prom dresses, books to kitchen wares and bedding, the 2017 Fall Bazaar shared the wealth with our friends and church family in the High Country. The following organizations received in-kind donations: Children’s Council, Habitat ReStore, Hebron Colony, Hospitality House, Humane Society, Hunger & Health Coalition, OASIS, Safeplace Thrift Store (Spruce Pine), and Watauga High School.

Over 40% of the $8,000 in gift cards that we shared with “the least of these” were cashed in. With these gift cards, the recipients were able to make their own decisions about what they needed.

The net proceeds of the Bazaar were $47,983. The following agencies each received $3600 each: Appalachian Wesley Foundation, Casting Bread, Hebron, and Hunger and Health Coalition, selected by BUMC’s missions committee. UMCOR received $2000. The remainder went to the principal of the mortgage, reducing the amount by $31,583.

Thanks to each of you who donated “treasures” and then came to the Bazaar and bought items. Thank you to each of the 250+ volunteers who worked feverishly the days before the Bazaar turning “treasures” into desired items.  Hopefully each made a new friend or two and had a good time.

Mark your calendar Sept. 14 and 15th for the 2018 Bazaar.
