Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry is hosting a four-day retreat for the incarcerated at Mountain View Correctional Institute in Spruce Pine, N.C. There are four ways for Boone UMC members to be involved:

Decorate Placemats

This activity is mainly for children. Pick up blank placemats in the Church Office. Then, decorate and return by Oct. 12. Please watch for directions that can be picked up with the placemats and make sure the child includes their first name and age.

Financial Contribution

Checks can be made out to KAIROS of NC.

Attend Closing Worship Service
The worship service at the conclusion of the retreat is open to guests from the outside. If you would like to support this event by attending the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, where participants will share their testimonies, please complete the following forms:

RECORD REQUEST

Those attending will need to arrive at Mountain View Correctional (MVCI) in Spruce Pine, NC, no later than Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at 1:30 pm to be allowed in the gates. The ceremony itself starts at 2:30 pm and lasts about an hour. It is about a one-hour drive to MVCI. If there are several who would like to carpool from Boone, we can arrange to leave from the church parking lot. If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Shirley.
