As for You – Journeying through Ephesians

A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes.

As for you, Paul says, you have been saved by the immeasurable grace of God and given new life in Christ. This gift shapes and defines everything about us. It tells us who we are, what we should value, how we should relate to family, friends, and neighbors, and what our life as Church should look like. Beginning Sunday, September 18th, we’ll journey together through the letter of Ephesians. This is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to Boone UMC, and for us to walk together through an entire book of the Bible. We hope you’ll take this journey with us and we look forward to seeing you in worship.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

Patricia Cone will be offering the 10-week “Emotionally Healthy Spirituality” course. It will be an “10-week journey of transformation that will equip you with tools on how to have a deeper interior life with Christ.” The group will meet on Thursday nights from 6:00pm-8:00pm, beginning September 22. Childcare will be available if needed. You can click here to register for the class now. If you have further questions, please contact Pastor Vern or Patricia Cone.

Here is what some of the folks from the class this past winter had to say:

“EHS help me to manage life’s many distrations, giving my relationship with God it’s rightful place. Seeing how personal distractions compete to distort a spiritual relationship is helpful. Choices are clearer in light of where I place the priority. My recommendation for this class to anyone looking for a clear path forward could not be stronger.”

“We all need a place to know we are unconditionally accepted.”

“This study was extremely helpful. I find myself thinking often about discussions we had or points he (Peter Scazerro) made and appreciate continuing to think and pray about what constitutes emotionally healthy relationships.”

“This study came close to unearthing that huge boulder in me waiting to be dislodged that will free my spirit to live one day at a time.”

“This study took me deeper into my understanding of God’s Presence in my life and how my past fits into my present.”

“I joined the Emotionally Healthy Spiritually study as a call to me to grow and become more intimate with the Lord. What I gained from the study was a deeper understanding of the Lord and His love for me – and a clearer image of His desire for my life. By maturing emotionally and clearing the strongholds from my heart, I have been opened up to loving the Lord and those around me as I could never have imagined!”

” Dealing with emotions is not my strong suit. This class helped me to begin to understand how to deal with emotional turmoil and how to depend upon God more to deal with the wall(s) that confront me.”

“As the class openly shared experiences and thoughts, I got a strong sense of how God is working in everyone’s life.”

This year marks 150 years of ministry and mission at Boone United Methodist Church. Over the years God has been faithful, and as our anniversary theme affirms – “Glory to God, Who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by His power at work within us.”(Ephesians 3:20) We will celebrate this significant milestone and the ways God has blessed our community through Boone UMC on Sunday, October 23, 2016 with a combined Service at 11:00am and lunch following. The Rev. John Fitzgerald will be our guest preacher for the day.

In the months leading up to our celebration Sunday, we would love to remember and celebrate our rich heritage. If you have old photos or video from years past please share those with Rob Corn our Director of Communications. Also, please watch the Sunday bulletin, worship slides, and our Facebook page, and here on the website for further details and updates.
