General Conference Decisions/Group Discussions
The United Methodist Church made several important decisions at the May General Conference. On May 14, Boone UMC’s Church Council, which includes staff and leaders of the various teams/committees within our church, met to learn about and discuss these impactful decisions. Your leadership team had an opportunity to process General Conference decisions and discuss in small groups the concerns, questions, and hopes they have regarding these decisions. These discussions were helpful in understanding different opinions surrounding General Conference outcomes and also helped our leadership focus on the things that continue to unify Boone UMC as a “big tent” church with room for all.
Now it is your turn. Church Council is offering the entire congregation the same opportunity to understand these General Conference decisions and discuss them among our church family members. We are holding two informational sessions and group discussions in the Chapel:
Thursday, June 6, 5:30-6:30 pm or
Sunday, June 9, 4:00-5:00 pm
Meetings will include a brief overview of the important General Conference decisions followed by small table discussions that focus on:
- What questions do you have?
- What concerns do you have?
- What hopes do you have?
You are invited to attend one of these informational sessions to learn more.
